What is Daylight Savings Time (DST)
Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of moving clocks forward by one hour in spring and back by one hour in fall to make better use of daylight. Many countries observe DST, with start and end dates varying across regions yearly.
Certain access types of on igloo smart locks will show discrepancies, and this article will be addressing them.
1. Types of Pins & How DST Affects Them
1.1 Pins That Require Manual Adjustment
The following types of pins do not automatically adjust for DST and may cause access discrepancies:
Weekly Custom Pins
Weekly AlgoPIN™
1.2 Impact
Lock access times may be off by one hour after DST starts or ends. Some time zones may differ more than one hour.
Users may experience early or delayed access depending on their local DST rules.
1.3 Recommendation:
Reset Weekly PINs by turning on and off, after the DST transition to ensure they sync with the new time.
Double-check access schedules within the app to confirm the correct timing.
2. Pins That Automatically Adjust for DST
The following access types consider DST and adjust accordingly when generated, for both custom and AlgoPIN™ types:
One-Time Passwords (OTP)
Duration-Based Pins
Permanent Pins
2.1 Impact:
No manual adjustment is needed.
These pins will align with the correct local time.
3. Other Features Affected by DST
Night Mode & Schedule Features: These features are exclusive to our retrofit lock (SKU: OE1).
