The padlock is designed to be unlocked first before you can access the battery. This is to ensure the security of the padlock. 

Simply unlock your padlock first and you should be able to access the battery with ease.

Note that force opening the battery cover can cause internal damage to the motor and obstruction alarm issues so ensure that this step is followed at all times.
