Here's a step-by-step guide to effectively retrofit the Deadbolt Go!
1. Remove the existing Deadbolt from your door
2. Install the Deadbolt Latch and secure the latch with 2x J or K screws, with “UP” towards the top.
3. Set the Latch backset and secure it to the door - if required, increase the length of the deadbolt by twisting it before inserting it into the door.
4. Assemble the Keypad body through the latch - the tailpiece should be in the horizontal orientation.
5. Assemble the Mounting Plate, insert cable through the hole in the mounting plate, and fasten it to the keypad body with 2 x “H” screws.
6. Remove the battery cover and connect the cable to the Thumbturn body.
7. Fasten Thumbturn Body to the mounting plate with the 3 x “I” screws and fold the cable into the space inside the back assembly.
8. Check Thumbturn movement - rotating the Thumbturn should lock & unlock the deadbolt with ease. (Adjust/ install the strike plate & dust box cover if needed.
9. Insert 4 x AA batteries (not included) and secure the battery cover.
10. Auto-Calibrate Lock Handing - with the latch retracted, long press the Unlock button (3s) to auto-calibrate. The lock will automatically adjust to either a Right or Left-Hand door installation.
Installation Notes: Deadbolt should not take any pre-load from weather seals or door warpage. If it is, look to adjust the latchset strike so that the latchset takes this pre-load instead.
Additionally, it might be necessary to adjust the location of the Deadbolt Strike Plate. Do check the deadbolt operation to confirm the smooth motion with low resistance. Weather conditions such as temperature and humidity, can affect an installation over time.
In particular, wood doors may swell or contract, which might cause changes to the lock performance over the opening’s lifespan. Please re-check the installation periodically, with the door open and the door closed, to check for a bind or misalignment of the deadbolt and strike.
